ABC Cancels My Generation

ABC Cancels My Generation – The second victim of the 2010-2011 season is ‘My Generation’ debuted on September 23rd on ABC. The series follows the footsteps of Fox’s ‘Lone Star’.

Steve McPherson believed in ‘My Generation’ and gave it the most competitive slot of the week in the United States on Thursday 8PM in front of big players like ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and ‘Bones’, maybe too much competition for a series just debuting?

Developed by Noah Hawley, ‘My Generation’ is the adaptation of a Swedish series “God’s Highway (Blomstertid),” and follows a group of students 10 years apart. In 2000 a journalist had chosen to follow these people in their high school graduation year and found them again 10 years later. We then discovered what they were, what they wanted to be and what they became. My Generation cast was composed of Daniella Alonso, Mehcad Brooks, Kelli Garner, Elizabeth Keener, Jaime King, Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Anne Son, Sebastian Sozzi, and Michael Stahl-David.

The pilot had been seen by 5.2 million viewers, audience very disappointing. The network tried to save the series but with the second episode, seen by 3.2 million viewers with a market share of 1.1, a loss of 31% between the two episodes, it was evident that things were not improving. The shooting had stopped immediately, so only five episodes were filmed.

It is not the only series in danger on ABC, ‘The Whole Truth’ with Maura Tierney and Rob Morrow is also on the docket. ABC is reportedly giving it two more episodes before cancelling it too.
