Julio Garcia Died On NCIS Set

Production of the hit television drama “NCIS” has been halted after a security guard was killed in an on-set accident.

Julio Garcia died on the show’s Los Angeles filming set when he was struck by a vehicle whose driver apparently blacked out.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials said driver Ralph Blunt had dropped off some passengers when he suffered some kind of medical condition, lost control and hit Garcia and two parked cars. Garcia was 52-years-old.

Garcia was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead from injuries suffered in the crash. Blunt, who was also hospitalized, was released after observation.

“Everyone at the network, the studio and ‘NCIS’ is devastated by the news. Our hearts grieve for his family and friends for this tragic loss,” a CBS Productions statement said Friday.

“We are, of course, cooperating with the local authorities in Santa Clara to help determine what caused this terrible accident. Production on the show has been suspended.”
