Melina Kanakaredes CSI: NY Replacement – Sela Ward – After six years of hard work and devotion, Melina Kanakaredes has decided to leave CSI: NY, on her own. CBS regretted but respected her choice and wished her good luck for her next project, leaving the door wide open if she wanted to return.

On her side, Melina Kanakaredes said she has made a lot of friends during her time working on the hit show.

According to reports CBS contract offer did not meet the actress’ requirements so she has preferred to turn to new projects.

One day after Kanakaredes left, CBS has confirmed that Sela Ward is chosen as her replacement.

Ward will play an experienced investigator, coming directly from Washington, DC. Her character will push the series towards more empathy for the victims.

Sela Ward will make her CSI : NY debut in the first episode of the seventh season.

This is the fourth major cast shift in CBS crime series considering the termination of contracts of AJ Cook, Liz Vassey, and Eddie Cibrian, respectively from the series Criminal Minds, CSI, and CSI: Miami.
