Nicollette Sheridan Sues Desperate Housewives Marc Cherry

Nicollette Sheridan Sues Desperate Housewives Marc Cherry – Nicollette Sheridan is suing the creator of “Desperate Housewives,” Marc Cherry. She alleges that Cherry “forcefully hit her with his hand” while they were rehearsing, then, later, wrote her character off of the popular television series after Sheridan reported the confrontation to upper management. Sheridan played the character Edit Britt in “Desperate Housewives”, but had her character written off of the show in 2009. At the time, it was not announced why her character had been written off of the show. Sheridan alleges that her character was given the boot because of the confrontation that she had had with Marc Cherry earlier in the filming process.

Sheridan stated that Cherry “took her aside and forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head” during rehearsals for the show in 2008. The confrontation reportedly started after Sheridan had asked Cherry a question about the script, the suit stated. After the incident, Sheridan’s character was killed, and she was fired from the show. This was a strange move at the time, because her character, Edie Britt was considered to be a fan favorite, and was a quite popular character on the hit television series.
Sheridan is suing Cherry for damages of more than $20 million. Additional defendants included in the suit include ABC and Touchstone Television Productions. Included in the suit are claims that Sheridan was not the only employee that was abused by Cherry. Sheridan alleges that Cherry had repeated been abusive and hostile with other employees including actors and writers who were working on the show. When a lead actress spoke out to ABC executives, Cherry allegedly said to Sheridan, “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies,” alleges the suit.
Representatives for ABC have stated that they have investigated similar claims that were made by Sheridan in previous years, and said that they “found them to be without merit.”
