Regis Philbin Retiring & Leaving Live With Regis And Kelly

On Tuesday, January 18, Regis Philbin announced he would be leaving Live! With Regis and Kelly. He has been on the show for 28 years with Ripa and previous co-host Kathie Lee Gifford. Philbin is now 79-years-old.

Throughout Philbin’s career, he has been on a number of shows including Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and the first season of America’s Got Talent. He also has been known for his singing and occasional acting.

Philbin has come to be known as the hardest working man in show business. As such, Kathie Lee Gifford stated that she believes that he will not really be retiring. Gifford suspects there will be a number of job offers awaiting Philbin.

Gifford commented on how some of the winters in New York get to Philbin and that she thinks he would probably rather be in sunny Florida or California. Yet, Gifford still declared that Philbin will never retire.

She says that there are a million things that Philbin can do. In OK! Magazine, she stated, “He’s still hot as a pistol! How many people-except for Betty White-can say that in their ‘80s?!” Philbin will turn 80 in August. Yet, Philbin has never been one to let age hold him back.
