Skins Cancelled? Not Yet

Despite the warnings by the Parents Television Council, and the loss of six advertising companies, MTV has declared that just because there was a ratings drop between the first and second weeks of it’s new show ‘Skins’, that does not mean that the show will be taken off the air.

MTV had six advertisers drop out of the slots they had booked, including Taco Bell, GM, Schick, Subway, H&R Block, and Wrigley.

Not only that, but despite pulling in 3.3 million viewers during it’s debut week, the show only garnered 1.6 million viewers for the second episode of the series, which was recently shown on Monday night.

However, despite a Fox News report that the television network would be pulling the plug on the show, MTV has announced in a statement in which they claim that the show will go on, saying, “’Skins’ has earned the loyalty of fans across the globe for its thoughtful and honest portrayal of teen life today.

An internationally acclaimed scripted drama, the show has been honored with a long list of prestigious awards.”

Many are concerned about the graphically sexual nature of the show, and the fact that the scenes portrayed are done using actors who are extremely young, some only as old as 15.
