Grey’s Anatomy Season 7 Episode 3: Superfreak S07E03

Grey’s Anatomy season 7 episode 3 “Superfreak” which was a semi “Grey’s Anatomy”/”Private Practice” cross over aired last night on ABC.

With most of the characters in “Grey’s Anatomy” still reeling from the the shooting at the end of last season, the focus of the third episode focused on the characters post traumatic stress -mainly on Christina who had passed out the last time we saw her.

Meredith and Derek try to slowly put her back into surgery, even though she has been suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome and thus far has been unable to perform any surgeries. Derek, in an attempt to save Christina’s job, says that he will quit the hospital if they suspend Christina for her post traumatic stress related outbursts.

As for crossover between the show and its spinoff titled “Private Practice.” -it occurred when Derek receives an unexpected visit from Amelia his estranged sister, much to his chagrin.

Her arrival brings a number of his past issues to the surface and forces him to deal with some things that he thought he had put behind him regarding a tragedy that he witnessed when he was young; the murder of his father. The show explains how the two siblings dealt with the death in very different ways.

We know from “Private Practice” that she had a prescription drug problem, but we assume that there are a number of other issues that came to the surface throughout the episode.

It was interesting to learn more about Derek’s past which is still cloudy, even in the seventh season.
After a long debate between Derek and Shepherd, Cristina found the guts and strength to hold a scalpel again.
