Kirstie Alley likes to refer to herself as a fat actress. Later generations have come to know her more for her weight loss battles and Jenny Craig campaigns than her actual acting.
The focus on Alley’s weight seems to take away from the fact that the former Cheers star is now 60 years old. Alley seemed to have been clinging onto career, allowing the focus on her weight to keep the former hottie in the spotlight.
The best move Alley has made in a while is her stint on Dancing With the Stars, where she continues to impress judges in competition with show frontrunner Kendra Wilkinson.
The show seemed like a great idea for her career and image, until she tried to force Scientology onto her dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Alley became a big proponent of the “religion,” which she claims greatly helped her with her cocaine addiction.
Alley should heed the examples of Tom Cruise and John Travolta. Scientology did nothing for their careers and seriously hurt their image.
Furthermore, now we can picture Alley as someone who tries to force their religion on others. One can only hope that her faith helps her in the stiff competition that is sure to heat up with next week’s episode.
